NOTRE HISTOIRE

Nutrition is one of the basic needs of a living being to survive and develop. Over the last 50 years, food has lost up to 75% of its nutritional value and the effects on organisms are felt every day with the appearance of opportunistic or chronic diseases. Today, we see that microbiota1 are also destabilised by this loss of nutritional value and it is more difficult to reverse this trend.
Our mission is to develop and create a sustainable value chain through our scientific know-how and technical expertise in symbiosis fermentation. Products from symbiosis fermentations respond to the strong demand to improve the diversity and resilience of human, animal or plant microbiota

What you need to know:
Over time, eating habits have changed from eating mostly plant-based, minimally processed foods to ultra-processed, fractionated, recombined, refined, energy-rich foods. Today, nutritional needs are unfortunately defined according to the nutrients provided by a type of food. However, these foods still contain essential nutrients but separated from their natural context and are detrimental to the proper functioning of our microbiota.
The human, animal or plant microbiota is essential in order to optimise the nutritional value of food supplies.

The discovery of symbiosis fermentation

Our Technology
The discovery of symbiosis fermentation was a revelation of the potential of traditional fermented foods and drinks (kefir, koumiss, ogi, togwa, tempeh, miso, kombucha...) on health.

creation of the first kefir and koumiss powder

Our Products
This discovery was the first source of inspiration for the creation of new processes and products in symbiosis. The Symbiotec laboratory innovated by creating the first kefir and koumiss powder in Europe and the first kombucha drink in France.

creation of stable and robust symbiotic ferments

Our Technology
Various research projects on symbiosis fermentation have led to the creation of stable and robust symbiotic ferments that can transform dairy substrates into active and more nutritious ingredients. More importantly, it has brought to light the hidden active ingredients of plants and herbs to make them more effective.

Mastery of new biotechnological fermentation processes

Our Technology
The understanding acquired on symbiotic ferments was the intuition that guided the Symbiotec laboratory towards the creation of new symbiotic ferments adapted to plants and vegetation. But above all, it enabled the mastery of new biotechnical fermentation processes.

development of VALMIX & OLFAMIX

Our Products
This knowledge has contributed to the development of a biological treatment (Valmix) for the valorisation of industrial or agricultural co-products but also to propose a solution to solve the recurrent problem of bad odours of these effluents (Olfamix).

Creation of the symbiotechnology

Our Technology
The implementation of symbiosis fermentations has enabled the Symbiotec laboratory to acquire unique expertise and know-how. The results obtained through the evaluation, design and application of symbiosis fermentation processes have led to the development of a new fermentation concept and the creation of Symbiotechnology

Symbiotechnology, a patented technology

Our Technology
Symbiotechnology is the source of two application patents and the creation of two symbiotic production units. The first in Europe, using symbiotic plants for animal nutrition, and the second internationally, for extracts of kombucha and symbiotic plants. But also the creation of patented phytogenic ingredients for cosmetics.

Highlighting the microbiota

Our Technology
In recent years, the emergence of the "forgotten organ" or "microbiota" has given credibility to symbiosis fermentation. Indeed, the microbiota is hosted by an organism, which may be human, animal or plant. It ensures the assimilation of nutritional inputs and the immune defence of host organisms. Thus, the scientific recognition of a "forgotten organ", the microbiota, has made it possible to highlight its activity, which is essential to life: symbiosis fermentation.

Product in symbiosis development

Our Products
The discovery of the correlation between symbiosis fermentation and the optimal functioning of the microbiota1 and especially of the microbiome2 was the trigger for the development and innovation of symbiotic products that highlight the notion of diversity and resilience of the microbiota3 .

Notes and definitions:
1- The microbiota is all microorganisms (bacteria, archaea, yeasts, fungi, viruses, etc. ) living in symbiosis with a host organ (human, animal or plant). For humans and animals, the organ that hosts the microbiota may be the intestine, skin, vagina, lungs…  for plants, roots, leaves, seeds…). Not to mention the soils that contain the world’s largest microbiota…

2- The microbiome is defined as all microbiota, the products of their activity (metabolites, enzymes… ) and their genes occupying a habitat well with distinct physico-chemical properties. The microbiome leads to the formation of specific ecological niches that form a dynamic set subject to changes in time and crucial for the functioning of the host and their health.

3- The resilience of the microbiota refers to its ability to maintain its state and recover from disturbances to return to its original state. This allows to maintain a homeostatic balance between micro-communitiesorganisms but also between the microbiota and its host to prevent the appearance of metabolic disorders or chronic diseases Factors that can affect the resilience of the microbiota include diet, stress, antibiotics, chemotherapy treatment, viral or bacterial infections and environmental changes.

Symbiotechnology and creation of new products in symbiosis

Our Technology
Symbiotechnology is the ideal solution for creating new products in symbiosis whose mission is to regenerate the diversity and resilience vitality of microbiota from dairy or plant food raw materials. The microbiota or microbiome is our new health ally and its relationship with the host organism must be symbiotic, dynamic, diverse and resilient.

Unique production tools for fermentation in symbiosis

Our Products
More than probiotics, prebiotics and postbiotics, products in symbiosis are the very source of well-functioning microbiota and host-microbiota resilience.
The Symbiotec laboratory has just acquired a unique production tool for symbiosis fermentation. Symbiotechnology is moving into the future.

SYMBIOSIS AS THE ORIGIN OF LIFE

"Symbiosis is a term meaning "living together". It describes an ecological relationship between two organisms of different species that are in direct contact with each other" (Futura Sciences 2018)

Symbiosis is one of the most efficient adaptation processes of all those invented by living beings to connect man, animal, insect, plant or fungus to its environment. The adaptation of human beings to their environment must necessarily pass through a phase of symbiosis where one is the amphitryon (host) and the other the guest or commensal (symbiont). Thus, every living being on our earth is a host that harbours a symbiotic microbial consortium that is essential for life: the microbiota1. The whole of the microbiota-host activities is the microbiome2.
Lichens : exemple de symbiose naturelle.

"The diversity of microorganisms is the key factor in the symbiosis of the microbiota, but the molecules produced by the symbiosis are the conductors of the microbiome that actually direct the vital functions of our organism" (Dr. S. Rollan 2022).
